Regula · The Rule

The Rule.

Seven disciplines of the stewarded trader. Keep them and the account survives you. Break them and it will not.

I

Pray before the open.

The day is the Lord's before it is the market's. A Morning Offering and one verse before the first chart, every session.

In the morning I will stand before thee, and will see.

Psalm 5:5 (DRA)

Breaks the idol of turning first to the screen.

II

Trade by a written rule.

Your risk per trade, your size, your stop, and your setup are decided before the session, in writing, and never renegotiated in the heat.

The thoughts of the industrious always bring forth abundance: but every sluggard is always in want.

Proverbs 21:5 (DRA)

Breaks the idol of impulse.

III

Wait for your setup.

You do not chase. You sit on your hands until the plan appears, and you take nothing it did not offer.

Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth.

James 5:7 (DRA)

Breaks the idol of FOMO.

IV

Keep an honest ledger.

You journal every trade against the truth, and you close the day with an Examen: where were you drawn well, where were you pulled off.

Lay open thy works to the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be directed.

Proverbs 16:3 (DRA)

Breaks the idol of self-deception.

V

Hold the outcome loosely.

Green does not make you proud and red does not make you cruel. You size from a sober plan, never from euphoria or revenge.

Whatsoever you do, do it from the heart, as to the Lord, and not to men.

Colossians 3:23 (DRA)

Breaks the idol of the profit and loss as your worth.

VI

Keep the hours and the Sabbath.

You pray through the trading day and you keep the Lord's Day for rest and Mass, not market content.

Remember that thou keep holy the sabbath day.

Exodus 20:8 (DRA)

Breaks the idol of the screen as god.

VII

Give, and do not trade alone.

You give from your gains and you stay accountable to the guild.

It is better that two should be together, than one.

Ecclesiastes 4:9 (DRA)

Breaks the idol of greed and isolation.

The beginning

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.

Proverbs 9:10 (DRA)

The Rule is the ground floor of the formation. It is free, and it is for everyone who picks up the shield.
